Weaving the Word

Seven churches took part in the 'Weaving the Word' project to create an artwork for the Church Without Walls Celebration Day.

‘Weaving the Word’ took place in seven churches around Scotland: Crown Church, Inverness; Renfield St Stephens, Glasgow; Steeple Church, Dundee; St Andrew’s Leekie, Peebles; St George’s West, Edinburgh; Church of Scotland Centre, Oban; and Gatehouse of Fleet Parish Church.

The brief was to create an artwork for the Church Without Walls Celebration Day which took place at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre on 5 October 2004. A woven shelter was created and exhibited at the Conference Centre’s Strathblane Hall.

We wanted to infiltrate the building with the word of God and the belief that God is all things.
