Space and Worship Workshop
Renfield St Stephen's. Glasgow
Wednesday 22 October 2008
This study/workshop day is for laypeople and clergy who are interested in examining how space is used in worship. The course will use the venue’s environment to enable participants to look at the importance of the body in ritual and how an awareness of the senses - voice, visual arts, sound and touch - is central to an inclusive, participatory worship experience.
- What makes space sacred? Sizing up your space.
- Embodied worship - why bodies matter.
- Ritual-architectural event - making worship inclusive.
- Seeing is believing - and having ears to hear.
- Touching the void - remembering the body.
With Carol Marples, artist and project leader of The Soulmarks Trust, and Steve Butler, musician and Rector of St James, Leith.
